There is plenty to experience in the local area, something for everyone!
Mount Macedon Memorial Cross.
The Memorial Cross is one of Mt Macedon's major attractions. Standing 21 meters high near the summit of Mt Macedon, it was built by William Cameron in 1935 as a memorial to his son and those who lost their lives in World War I.
At the base of the Cross, you will be treated to fantastic views of the surrounding areas consisting of the local Macedon Ranges, Dandenong Ranges as well as Melbourne.
Magnificent Historic Gardens.
Guests to Mt Macedon can visit the historic open gardens that are open seasonally to the public. Many of the gardens combine lush floral collections with sweeping lawns, paths and pavilions.
Hanging Rock Recreation Reserve/Regional Park.
The fabled disappearance of Miranda at Hanging Rock over 100 years ago, as depicted in the famous Australian film (Picnic at Hanging Rock), has mystified visitors to the rock for decades. As you explore the Rock, you too will be drawn by its mystery.
Climbing to the top of the Rock, you will be rewarded with spectacular views and if you are lucky some koala sightings along the way. The native flora and fauna in the Reserve are of significance and deserve special attention.
Walks & Sight Seeing.
Macedon Ranges have multiple marked walking tracks that lead you through a Natural Forest setting. Walks range between a leisurely stroll to a strenuous hike. Taking a walk, will reward you with the multitude of native flora and fauna, where you can catch sight of Koalas, Wombats, echidnas and other wild life
Sanatorium Lake, just down from the Memorial Cross, has its own walking trail of approx 2.6kms, is a fantastic location to take in the wonderful fresh air and enjoy a relaxing picnic.
Stanley Park is a very short walk from Mia's. Here you can see Stanley Falls water fall, cook a BBQ lunch or just relax in the park grounds.
Cycling.
With a blooming reputation as one of the hottest locations to Cycle, the Macedon Ranges has it all for the cyclist.
Asphalted roads spread throughout the Ranges, cool weather and minimal road traffic - the perfect recipe for a fantastic safe ride. Multiple tracks have been mapped by other cyclists.
Cafe & Restaurants.
Experience many different Restaurants and Cafes in the local area where you can wine and dine, enjoying the local produce for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are also restaurants specialising in Indian, Chinese, Italian and other fine international cuisine
Local Wineries.
Tempt your palette with some of the best locally produced wine. There are a large range of wineries to choose from, with careful planning you can visit several wineries in a single day.
Weekend Markets & Local Shops.
Visitors can also curio local shops and enjoy the markets held in the local surrounding towns including the well-known Gisborne market. Locating that unique gift has never been easier!
Golfing.
For those who enjoy a day on the green, Mt Macedon Golf club is open to the public all day.
